How long will we have to wait and watch for Jesus to return? We do not know. Jesus said he would return soon. However, the definition of “soon” for the One who has no beginning or end will naturally differ from ours. Whenever Jesus returns, it will take us by surprise. So, how do believers avoid growing lethargic? How do we remain ready and watchful for Christ’s return? Our Savior points us to his Scriptures.
We are now two weeks closer to Christmas than when Advent began. That means we are now two weeks closer to Jesus’ imminent return to judge the living and the dead. Are we more ready than we were last week for His coming? That’s what Advent is about, being always prepared and ready for the day He appears.
When He came the first time, many were’nt ready because they didn’t pay attention to the many prophecies about who the Messiah would be and what He would come to do. He came to save the world from sin by His perfect life and innocent death. Today we review the meaning of Jesus coming as our Messiah as we prepare to celebrate His birth.
