In cases of emergency, when a child who has not been baptized is in danger and no pastor is available, any Christian may and should administer Holy Baptism.
Take some water and sprinkle it on the head of the child, saying, “I baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.” Then may follow the Lord’s Prayer: “Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; Give us this day our day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil; For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever, Amen.”
If there is time before the baptism may be confessed in the words of the Apostles’ Creed.
