Sunday March 8 2026 —
We human beings have a deep spiritual thirst. When God first created Adam and Eve they were drenched in God’s love. Every spiritual need they had was met by their dear Creator who communed with them every day in the beautiful garden where they lived. It was green. It was lush. It was paradise!
Sadly they wanted more. They wanted to know evil as well as good, and when they ate of the forbidden fruit they found out what they were missing.
At least they still had God. He satisfied their spiritual thirst, and that’s what He does for us through His Gospel Word. Adam and Eve’s descendants are tempted to satisfy that deep thirst with worldly things, a strategy doomed to failure. Our thirst is satisfied only by the one who said, “Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.” Jesus meets my greatest need.
