Holy Week: Look Up and See Your King!

March 29 – April 5 2026 —

This is called “Holy Week” for good reason. We commemorate the most significant week in the history of the world. This is the week God fulfilled all His ancient prophecies of the Messiah. This is the week the damage done by sin was undone. This is the week the Savior paid for our guilt, shame and sin. This is the week Jesus defeated death by dying and rising from the grave.

This is also the week Jesus instituted His holy supper in which He gives us all the fruits of His work. He gives us His own body and blood and the forgiveness and eternal life He won for us by offering them on the cross.

This week began with the crowds acclaiming Jesus as King. But they didn’t understand that His kingdom was not of this world, and when they found out He didn’t come to free Jerusalem from Roman occupation and offer them a new welfare program with free food and healthcare, they quickly abandoned Him, choosing to send Him to His death and protesting Pilate’s decision to place a sign over His head that read, “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.”

But because He died, we live! Therefore, Look Up!
