Without the resurrection of Jesus, I would have only myself to live for. That may sound freeing, but I’m my own worst guide and master. I’d order myself to either live a dissolute life—after all, who cares how I live—or I’d be a terrible taskmaster, ordering myself to strive and strive only for worldly ends or to salve my conscience until I finally, successfully silence it!

What a wonderful gift to be able to live for Jesus by dedicating myself to living for others. One day, Jesus will say I was hungry and you fed me. I was sick and you visited me. …Whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did it for me.

Because Jesus lives, we will live forever. Because Jesus lives, we will never be orphaned. Because Jesus lives, even our hardships become opportunities to share with others who ask us why we have sure hope despite it all.
