Peter, too, in our epistle lesson urges us to keep God’s commands as followers of Jesus. He, too, gives us the motivating reason: We have been saved by baptism, just as God saved Noah and his family from destruction through the water of the flood.
In our reading from Acts, Paul preaches to the “spiritual” people of Athens as he stood before them in the shadow of the magnificent Parthenon dedicated to the false goddess Athena. He told them of the One True God who became man and lived among us and died to be our Savior, but now fills the universe and rules all things.
