Sunday, October 25 2026 —
Jesus told his followers, “You will be hated by everyone because of me” (Matthew 10:22). In other words, the whole time between Christ’s first coming in to the world and His second coming to judge the world is going to be perilous for believers. What happened to a monk named Martin Luther 500 years ago, is just another, albeit very well known example of Jesus’ prophecy being fulfilled. All that priest wanted to accomplish was to share the pure gospel with the world. For trying to do just that, both political and religious leaders wanted to end his life.
The Festival of the Reformation emphasizes our unfailing reliance on the Word of God. We must continue to give unflinching testimony to that Word even in the face of persecution. Today we pray that the Lord would keep us steadfast in the faith in the face of whatever opposition we may face.
